ITI Government Jobs 2026 — Sarkari Naukri for Trade Certificate Holders

Indian Railways is the largest recruiter of ITI holders in India. RRC (Railway Recruitment Cell) zones recruit Act Apprentices in trade disciplines like Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, and Copa (Computer Operator & Programming Assistant). Railway Apprentice is a formal 1-year training program under the Apprentices Act, with stipend of ₹6,000–₹9,000/month during training. After training, apprentices are eligible to appear in Railway Group D (Level 1) and Technician exams on priority. Many permanent Railway Technician employees come through this Apprentice channel. Each Railway zone (CR, NR, ER, WR, SR, SCR, etc.) floats its own Apprentice notification — combined vacancies can exceed 25,000–50,000 per national cycle.

Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), now reorganised into seven DPSUs (Advanced Weapons & Equipment, Troop Comforts, Ammunition, Armoured Vehicles, Grenades & Small Arms, etc.), recruits Tradesman Mate, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Millwright, and Examiner posts directly from ITI holders. Ordnance Factory Tradesman selection is through a Computer Based Test (written) followed by trade practical test. Pay Level 1 (₹18,000/month basic) with allowances brings total in-hand to approximately ₹28,000–₹35,000/month. With promotions to semi-skilled and skilled grades, pay rises to Level 2 and Level 3. The factories are located in Jabalpur, Kanpur, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, and other cities — postings are transferable within the OFB network.

DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) recruits ITI holders as Technician-A (Multi-Tasking Staff – Technical) at Pay Level 1 (₹18,000/month) through DRDO CEPTAM exams. BHEL, BEL, HAL, BEML, ECIL, and NALCO recruit Act Apprentices from ITI holders in relevant trades under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The stipend ranges ₹8,000–₹14,000/month. State Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) — MSEDCL, JDVVNL, TPDDL, KSEB — directly recruit ITI Electrician holders as Junior Lineman (JLM) or Junior Engineer Apprentice. These state DISCOM positions carry Pay Level 2–3 (₹19,900–₹21,700 basic) and are highly sought-after for their stability and perks.
