Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), under the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has been a vital player in the steel manufacturing sector since its establishment in 1960. Work locations will primarily be within the Rourkela Steel Plant, and apprentices can expect to engage in both fieldwork and some desk-related tasks, depending on their specific roles and responsibilities. Use of industry-standard tools and technologies pertinent to their respective fields will be a part of their training.

Trade Apprentices (ITI) will receive a stipend of ₹10,560/- per month, while Diploma Apprentices will earn ₹10,900/- and Graduate/Degree Apprentices will receive ₹12,300/-. These stipends are structured according to the respective pay levels designated for the posts. The in-hand salary is subject to deductions for NPS and other statutory deductions, approximating around ₹9,000 to ₹10,000 for Trade Apprentices after deductions.

In terms of career advancement, successful apprentices can look forward to possible promotion to higher technical positions within RSP after 5-10 years of service, potentially leading to roles with greater responsibilities and better pay scales.
