About Arunachal Pradesh Government Jobs 2026
Arunachal Pradesh's government recruitment is conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for gazetted-level posts and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) for subordinate-level recruitment. APPSC conducts the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Services (APCS) and Arunachal Pradesh Police Services (APPS) combined exam for Group A and B posts including Deputy Commissioner (Prob), DSP, Block Development Officer, and departmental heads in Finance, Health, and Education. APPSC also recruits for Medical Officers, Assistant Engineers, Veterinary Officers, and Lecturers in government colleges.
APSSB handles Group C and D recruitment including Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Upper Division Clerk (UDC), Stenographer Grade-II, Multi-Tasking Staff, Junior Engineer, and various technical posts across state departments. Arunachal Pradesh Police Department recruits Constables and SIs through the Police Recruitment Board. Teacher recruitment for state government schools is managed through the Directorate of Education with APTET qualification being mandatory. Due to its strategic border location, Arunachal Pradesh also has significant employment from the Indian Army (Mountain Divisions), ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), and BRO (Border Roads Organisation).
Arunachal Pradesh government employees receive salary under the AP Service Rules broadly aligned with 7th Pay Commission. The state has the highest percentage of tribal population in India (over 68%), and ST candidates enjoy near-total reservation in state-level posts. Each of the 26 major tribes may have tribe-specific posts in certain departmental recruitments. English is the official language of Arunachal Pradesh and most state government exams are conducted in English. AP domicile with valid tribal certificate is required for most state-level reserved posts. Applications are submitted through APPSC at appsc.gov.in and APSSB at apssb.nic.in.
