Tripura's government recruitment is managed by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) for gazetted-level posts and the Tripura Staff Selection Board (TSSB) for non-gazetted posts. The Tripura Gramin Bank and Tripura State Cooperative Bank also recruit regularly. Key state enterprises including TSECL (electricity) and TRTC (transport) provide technical employment.

Tripura government employees receive salary under the Tripura Government Pay Rules broadly aligned with 7th Pay Commission. The state has significant reservation benefits for ST and SC candidates given its tribal population — ST reservation is 28% and SC is 17% in state recruitment. Bengali and Kokborok (official Tripuri language) are the two official state languages, and proficiency in Bengali is expected for most non-tribal state posts. Tripura domicile is required for state-level posts. Northeast Frontier Railway, central paramilitary forces, and BSF also provide significant employment in Tripura.
