Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), one of the zones of Indian Railways, was established in 1958 to serve the northeastern states of India. After accounting for deductions such as the National Pension System (NPS) and other applicable taxes, the in-hand salary may be approximately ₹8,500.

Career advancement opportunities typically align with successful completion of the apprenticeship, leading to promotions within the technical cadre, such as Technician or Junior Engineer roles after gaining requisite experience. Advancement can elevate pay levels to ₹25,000 per month or more in subsequent positions.

Act Apprentices are entitled to several benefits including medical facilities under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), leave travel concession (LTC), and group insurance. While engaged in the apprenticeship, candidates will also have access to canteen services, study leave for skill enhancement courses, and contributions to the National Pension Scheme (NPS) once placed permanently.
