About Sikkim Government Jobs 2026
Sikkim, India's smallest state by population, has a compact government recruitment structure managed by the Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) and the Sikkim Staff Selection Board (SSSB). SPSC conducts the Sikkim Combined Competitive Examination (SCCE) for Group A and B gazetted posts including SDM, DSP, Block Development Officer, and departmental officers in Finance, Education, Health, and Agriculture. SPSC also recruits for Assistant Engineer (Civil/Electrical), Medical Officers, and Lecturers in Government Colleges. Given Sikkim's small size, annual vacancies are limited but highly competitive among local graduates.
SSSB handles Group C and D recruitment including Lower Division Assistant, Upper Division Assistant, Revenue Karamchari, and Multi-Tasking Staff across state departments. Sikkim Police Department recruits Constables and Sub-Inspectors through separate recruitment boards. Teacher recruitment is managed through the Human Resource Development Department (HRDD) with STET (Sikkim Teacher Eligibility Test) qualification mandatory. Sikkim also benefits from tourism-related government employment through Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC). The state benefits from tax exemptions for residents, making government employment even more attractive.
Sikkim government employees receive salary under the Sikkim Government Rules of Pay, broadly aligned with 7th Pay Commission. Sikkim residents enjoy significant tax benefits — individuals from Sikkim have special status under Section 10(26AAA) of the Income Tax Act, exempting their income from certain taxes. ST (Sikkimese) candidates have significant reservation in state posts. Nepali, Sikkimese (Bhutia-Lepcha), and Limboo-Tamang are among the official state languages. Sikkim domicile (Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of Identification) is strictly required for state-level posts. Applications are submitted through SPSC at spsc.gov.in.
