Government Teaching Jobs for CTET Qualified Candidates
CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) — conducted by CBSE/NTA — has two papers: Paper I (Classes 1–5, Primary Level) and Paper II (Classes 6–8, Upper Primary Level). Since December 2021: CTET certificate is valid for LIFETIME. This change means every CTET pass (from any attempt) remains perpetually valid for all central government teaching posts that require CTET. KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan): the largest central government school system (1,252+ schools, 13 lakh+ students). KVS PRT (Pay Level 7, ₹44,900): CTET Paper I mandatory. KVS TGT Maths/Science/English/Hindi/Social Studies (Pay Level 7): CTET Paper II mandatory. KVS PGT (Post Graduate Teacher): graduation + B.Ed + CTET Paper II for some subjects. KVS also has special educators, music teachers, art teachers, PE teachers — each with CTET requirement.
NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti): 661 JNV (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya) schools — government residential schools for rural meritorious students. NVS TGT (Pay Level 7, ₹44,900 basic + accommodation): CTET Paper II mandatory. NVS benefits: free accommodation on campus + meals in dining hall (significant value in rural/semi-urban postings). DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board): recruits Primary Teacher (PRT) and TGT for Delhi Government schools — CTET Paper I/II mandatory. Pay equivalent to Level 7. EMRS (Eklavya Model Residential Schools): 650+ government residential schools for tribal children in scheduled areas — NESTS (National Education Society for Tribal Students) conducts EMRS TGT/PRT exam where CTET is mandatory. EMRS expanding rapidly — major upcoming recruitment source for CTET holders.
Sainik Schools (under Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence): 33 Sainik Schools providing secondary/senior secondary education with military orientation. TGT posts require CTET + B.Ed + relevant subject graduation. NDA Preparatory Institute and similar central schools: CTET required. Central Government Ministry schools (attached to PSUs/CPSEs): CPCB school, BHEL schools, ONGC schools, NTPC schools — CTET requirement. CTET Paper I vs Paper II strategy: appear for both simultaneously (same exam day, separate session) — having both qualifications maximises job opportunities across PRT and TGT levels. Subject preparation for CTET Paper II: Child Development & Pedagogy (common), Language I (English/Hindi), Language II, Subject Area (Maths/Science or Social Studies).
