This post is open to all candidates who have completed their 3-year Agricultural Engineering diploma from any AICTE-recognised polytechnic in India. If you hold an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of India, you remain eligible. Diploma holders from states other than UP can apply, provided their institution is recognised by AICTE.

• Junior Engineer (Agriculture) – Level 6: Basic Pay ₹9,300–₹34,800 per month; in-hand salary approximately ₹8,370–₹31,320 after NPS deduction (~10%) and tax.
• Entry at Level 6 with scope for promotion to Level 7 (Assistant Engineer) after 5–7 years of satisfactory performance.
• DA, HRA, and other allowances on top of basic pay; gratuity and pension benefits under NPS (New Pension Scheme) applicable.

As a Level 6 employee, your in-hand monthly salary will range between ₹8,370 and ₹31,320 depending on your position within the pay band and years of service. After NPS contributions (~10%) and standard income tax, a fresher at the entry level typically receives ₹7,500–₹9,500 in-hand during the first year. Compared to private-sector agricultural consulting firms, government pay is modest but offers job security, pension, and medical benefits worth ₹2–3 lakh annually. Promotions to Assistant Engineer (Level 7) typically occur after 5–7 years of appraisal-based performance reviews. • Diploma certificate mismatch: UPSSSC will reject applications if your diploma is from a non-AICTE-recognised institution. Ensure your polytechnic is listed on the AICTE official website before applying.
• Photo and signature format errors: Photos with tinted glasses, tilted angles, or coloured backgrounds are rejected. Signature scans must be in blue or black ink on white paper. Always verify the exact size and format (JPG/PNG) on the notification.
• Missing High School certificate: Many candidates upload only the diploma certificate. You must upload both your High School (10th pass) certificate and the 3-year Diploma certificate as separate files.
• Incorrect date of birth: Double-check your DOB against your High School certificate. Any mismatch will result in rejection during document verification.
• Caste certificate not in prescribed format: SC/ST/OBC candidates must upload caste certificates issued by the Tehsildar or equivalent authority of Uttar Pradesh (or their home state). Self-declared caste statements are not accepted.
• Submitting after the deadline: The portal closes at 11:59 PM on 7 October 2026. Applications submitted even 1 minute late are automatically rejected. Submit at least 2–3 days before the deadline to avoid network issues.

After you clear the Medical Examination, the UPSSSC issues an offer letter (usually within 2–4 weeks) with a joining date. You will be required to report to the Directorate of Agriculture's district office (most likely in your assigned district within Uttar Pradesh) along with original certificates, a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital, and passport-size photos. The typical joining formality includes signing of bond/undertaking, collection of service rules handbook, and briefing on duties.

Training: Most new Junior Engineers undergo a 1–3 week induction programme at the district agriculture office covering government procedures, IT systems, and role-specific orientation. Full-time posting begins immediately after. The entire process—from exam result announcement to actual joining—typically spans 4–6 months. You will be posted across districts of Uttar Pradesh based on departmental requirement and seniority; personal posting preference requests are generally not entertained for junior-level posts.

A Junior Engineer (Agriculture), also known as Avar Abhiyanta (Krishi) in Hindi, is a field-level technical officer responsible for delivering government agricultural schemes, conducting soil and water testing, advising farmers on modern farming practices, and monitoring crop health across a designated block or district. Day-to-day duties include: conducting farmer training camps (2–3 per month), soil sample collection and lab testing, irrigation feasibility surveys, crop damage assessment post-floods or droughts, pesticide safety audits, and preparing quarterly progress reports for the District Agriculture Department. You will typically work 5–6 days a week, with frequent field visits (60–70% time outdoors) in villages and farmers' fields, and 30–40% time at the block agriculture office managing records and preparing reports.

The role is non-uniform (office attire) but field-appropriate clothing is expected during village visits. You will report directly to the Block Agriculture Officer and liaise with the District Agriculture Officer on policy matters. Public interaction is frequent—farmers, village headmen, and NGO representatives approach you for permits, approvals, and technical advice. You will operate soil pH meters, moisture gauges, and simple lab equipment.
