The Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) is one of India’s premier nuclear research institutions under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Because this is a fellowship, traditional components like basic pay, HRA and DA do not apply the same way as regular central government posts. Net in-hand stipend is essentially the stipend amount less applicable taxes, for most JRFs the in-hand will be close to the stipend figure (for example, ₹25,000–₹42,000). Travel allowances for official travel and conference support are provided as per project rules. This is not a gazetted post.

Career progression: typical pathways include conversion into Senior Research Fellow (SRF) or Project Associate roles on subsequent projects, PhD registration (IGCAR often supports external/part-time PhD), and competitive absorption into scientist/engineer posts in DAE through internal selection or open recruitment.
