Indian Army Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) is the single largest government employer for ITI MMV trade. Army Tradesman (Vehicle Mechanic): shortlisted by 10th + ITI marks, followed by physical test + medical. Pay Level 1 (₹18,000 basic). EME vehicle workshops handle maintenance of all wheeled military vehicles — trucks, light vehicles, jeeps, ambulances, and recovery vehicles. Over a 20+ year career, Vehicle Mechanics can reach Naib Subedar level (Level 5, ₹29,200 basic). Army pension and disability benefits for service-related injuries apply after minimum qualifying service.

State Road Transport Corporations (KSRTC, TSRTC, MSRTC, UPSRTC, RSRTC, GSRTC, DTC) recruit Auto Mechanics/Vehicle Mechanics from ITI MMV for bus fleet maintenance. Pay: approximately ₹20,000–₹30,000/month at entry with state benefits — NPS pension, medical, DA, housing allowance. Selection: written test + trade test (practical on bus engine, differential, gearbox). State Police departments recruit Motor Vehicle Mechanics for their workshops maintaining patrol cars, prison vans, and VIP vehicles. DRDO Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE, Ahmednagar) recruits MMV trade for military vehicle development support.

Ordnance Factories produce military vehicles (BMP-II at HVF Avadi; wheeled vehicles at OFB plants) and recruit Tradesman Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) for quality control and testing. BSNL field offices, NCC technical wings, and paramilitary forces (BSF, CISF, CRPF) recruit for fleet maintenance mechanic roles. For MVI (Motor Vehicle Inspector — state government gazetted post), ITI MMV alone does NOT qualify — Diploma in Automobile Engineering is required.
