UPSC Jobs 2026 — Union Public Service Commission Recruitment
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the apex central recruiting agency of the Government of India, responsible for selecting officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and over 20 other Group A and Group B Central Services. UPSC recruitment is conducted through several examinations, the most prestigious being the Civil Services Examination (CSE), which selects candidates for IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and allied services.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is a three-stage process: Preliminary (two objective papers — GS Paper 1 and CSAT), Mains (nine written papers including Essay, four GS papers, two Optional papers, and two language papers), and Personality Test (interview). The entire process spans about a year from notification to final result. Eligibility requires a bachelor's degree from a recognised university with the general age limit being 21–32 years, with relaxation for OBC (3 years), SC/ST (5 years), and PwBD candidates.
Beyond CSE, UPSC conducts the Engineering Services Examination (ESE/IES) for technical cadres, the Combined Medical Services (CMS) exam for medical officers, the CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) exam for Assistant Commandants, the CDS exam for defence officers, the NDA exam for defence academy entry, and various departmental limited competitive examinations. All UPSC exams are notified on upsc.gov.in and the application process is conducted entirely online through the UPSCONLINE portal.
