SSC JE (Junior Engineer) accepts Diploma in Engineering as an alternative to a full B.Tech degree — making it one of the most important government exams for polytechnic students. Diploma holders in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical can appear for SSC JE and join CPWD, MES, CRPF, CWC, and other central departments as Junior Engineers at Pay Level 6 (₹35,400/month basic). The selection process is the same for diploma and degree holders: Paper-I (Computer Based Test) and Paper-II (Conventional/descriptive).
