SSC Jobs 2026: Staff Selection Commission Recruitment

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is one of India's largest central government recruiting bodies, conducting examinations every year to fill thousands of posts across central ministries, departments, and organisations. SSC recruits candidates for Group B and Group C non-gazetted posts through exams like SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level), SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level), SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff), SSC GD Constable, SSC JE (Junior Engineer), SSC Stenographer Grade C and D, and SSC CPO (Central Police Organisations / Sub-Inspector).

SSC CGL is the most popular exam, opening doors to posts such as Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector (Central Excise), Assistant Section Officer, Junior Statistical Officer, and Sub-Inspector in CBI. The eligibility for SSC CGL is a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. SSC CHSL fills posts like LDC, JSA, Postal Assistant, and DEO and requires 10+2 (Class 12) as the minimum qualification. SSC MTS is open to candidates who have passed Class 10 and fills multi-tasking non-technical posts across India.

SSC exams follow a multi-tier pattern with Tier 1 (Computer Based Test), Tier 2 (CBT with descriptive or skill components), and in some cases Tier 3 (document verification or skill test). The selection process is highly competitive, with lakhs of candidates appearing for limited vacancies each year. Syllabus covers Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English Language, and General Awareness. Candidates are advised to follow the official SSC notification on ssc.gov.in for accurate vacancy, eligibility, and date information.
